The connections that bind communities and countries together are shifting and being redefined, often not by coherent ideology or policy but capricious whims of power, opportunism, narcissism, discontent or alienation. The common myths of culture, politics, and nationalism are fragmenting into tribalism and the geopolitical order is reordering. Alliances are realigning. Unions are dissolving and reunifying. What will be the result? What new mythology will define the new order? Peter Walker has been living and working in California since 2006. His art is exhibited regularly throughout the state, the Intermountain West and New York. His work explores themes of community, belonging, identity and often the dislocation and alienation of the aforementioned. Walker received an MFA in Painting and Critical Theory at the San Francisco Art Institute. In addition to maintaining a studio in San Rafael, California, Walker is the Department Chair of Visual Arts at Marin Academy in San Rafael, CA.
